Mapping of Indian neuroscience research: A scientometric analysis of research output during 1999-2008.
The authors trace the growth of Neurosciences as a field in India over a decade, and seek to establish if there is a related growth in research output in the field. Using the Scopus citation database for 10 years as a source, they attempt to find out if there is a research productivity linked to the papers published and also if there is significant impact due to such published research. They have also studied the “global publication share” of these citations. They conclude that India is far behind other emerging economies in almost all parameters and express the urgent need to substantially increase research activities in their field in India. We from QMed would add that this is applicable to all fields, not just Neurosciences!
